Just Like Your Father. Canvas, Ink, House Paint, Spray Paint, Cotton, Thread. 2023

Just Like your father. 2023.

When I was leaving home, my mom gave me an old apron of my dad’s from when he was in college working at a ski store. I had always admired that he, like me, took the time to add little details to this object to really make it his. It is a creative side of him that I rarely saw growing up. When I started to alter, mend and fabricate my own clothing, I saw this apron as an opportunity to build something with my father, even though we currently live on opposite sides of the country and rarely see each other. I tried to preserve the parts of this apron that were him, add my own voice to the piece, and repair the apron into working order so I can use it daily in my shop.
